1977 New York Giants Topps Team Leaders Card #518

From the 1978 Topps Football set comes this 1977 New York Giants Team Leaders card – #518.

 With a 5-9 record the Giants finished 5th in the NFC Eastern Division. 

Offensive leaders included 2nd-year man Bobby Hammond out of Morgan State the top runner with 577 yards. His 4 touchdowns scored led New York as well. The team’s leading receiver was Georgia Tech product Jim Robinson – also in his 2nd year – with 22 catches and 422 yards. Hammond also returned punts and kicks and ended up #8 on the NFL’s All Purpose Yardage list. 

 Defensively it was Bill Bryant (Grambling) who led with 3 interceptions and Defensive tackle John Mendenhall, also from Grambling was credited with 12 sacks.
