Bears Championship Quarterback

  Playing his college ball at Vanderbilt where he was named the SEC’s Most Valuable Player, Billy Wade started his Pro Football Career as the LA Rams 1st pick of the 1952 draft. Military obligations delayed his NFL entry until 1954. Stayed with the Rams for 7 seasons until 1960. Named to the Pro Bowl in 1958 after he led the league with 2875 passing yards. Had the best Percentage Completion in 1959 as well with a 58.6% rate.

  In 1961 he requested to be traded and along with team mates Del Shofner and John Guzik he ended up in Chicago where he would led the Bears to an NFL title in 1963, He scored both of the Bears touchdowns – runs of 1 & 2 yards – in the 14-10 victory over the Giants. Billy Wade stayed with Chicago until 1966.
