Ted Hendrick has been considered one of the best linebackers to ever play, at 6-foot 7 inches tall the “Mad Stork” played 15 years in the NFL. Born in Guatemala he was a physics major at the University of Miami were he earned All-American honors before being drafted by the Baltimore Colts in the second round of the 1969 college draft. Intelligent and eccentric was named to 8 Pro Bowls and a total of 6 All-Pro teams. Still holds the record for most kicks blocked in a career – 25. Played 1 season in Green Bay where he took All Pro Honors before being traded to the Raiders in 1975 where he spent 9 seasons winning 2 Super Bowls. Retired in 1983, Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1990.

After a single season in Green Bay (with All Pro Honors) Ted Hendricks was traded to the Oakland Raiders in 1975. The Pack received the Raiders 1st round picks of 1976 and 1977. Hendricks ended up playing 9 seasons in Oakland with 2 Super Bowl wins in his career.

Here on his 1973 Topps card. By 1973, his 5th year in the NFL and with the Colts, he was really starting to come into his own. This would be his third consecutive Pro Bowl. Started all 14 games he had 3 interceptions and 4 fumble recoveries.
