After spending 11 seasons with the Los Angeles Rams Roman Gabriel was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. The price the Eagles gave up was 2 1st-round draft picks and a 3rd round pick as well as fullback Tony Baker and All-Pro Receiver Harold Jackson.

Joining the Eagles in 1973 he had one of the best seasons of his career - leading the NFL with 270 completions, 3219 yards passing and 23 touchdowns. He made the Pro Bowl that season and was named the Comeback Player of the Year.

Gabriel was my childhood hero.
I became a Rams fan in 1968 and still am in present, I became a because of helmet logo and Roman Gabriel was the first QB I Admired the strength in ability staying in the pocket and strong arm in throwing the long pass and if I’m not mistaken I can’t recall him being injured and staying out from playing for a long period, as well as seeing their defense the Fearsome Foursome as they were known to be but all through the good seasons and bad seasons I’ve stayed a fan and never bandwagon my Rams.
